MoClean® tank cleaning process
MoClean® process diagram.

The MoClean® system is divided in two sections:

1) The tank cleaning nozzles clean your tank interiors using low-pressure, high flows of re-circulated media or wash water. They are installed in the tank via existing openings or specially cold-tapped holes. You decide on the type and number of nozzles based on the type and size of your tanks.

2) The MoClean® truck combines the features of a traditional vacuum truck with unique sludge separation and media re-circulation capabilities. It parks near the tank, but outside of the EEx Zone. MoClean® draws sludge out of the tank into the truck, where it separates the solid and liquid components. Then it re-circulates the cleaning media to the tank through the nozzles, and discharges the oil fraction for you to re-process. The truck motor provides the power and compressed air required for the cleaning process. All you need to supply externally is steam for heating and nitrogen to make the tank inert.

MoClean® cleaning and oil recovery process
With the MoClean® system, "white oil" product tanks can be cleaned in a fraction of the time required by manual methods. The process can be operated by a single person. Operation of the MoClean® system is summarized below.

Suction Sludge is drawn from the tank into the MoClean® truck tank using the variable-speed vacuum pump on the truck. An upstream pre-filter protects the pump from excess solids.

Separator The 12 m³ truck tank is divided into 2 sections by a lip-sealed, movable piston containing a unique coalescing separator. Sludge flows through the separator into the front section of the tank, allowing the oil and water fractions of the sludge to stratify. Solids settle to the bottom of the tank and are removed after the cleaning process.

Media pump Cleaning media is re-circulated to the tank using the special media pump mounted on the MoClean® truck. If required, the cleaning media can be heated using the steam-heated heat exchanger on the truck.

Tank cleaning nozzles are mounted on the tank roof via flanges, and provide a precise indexed cleaning pattern using high-volume, low-pressure cleaning media flow. The number and positioning of the nozzle is determined to ensure full cleaning media coverage of the tank interior surface.

Oil outlet Once the truck tank is filled with oil and water, the oil layer is discharged from the top of the tank back to the customer for reprocessing. The oil stream is sampled and removal ceases once only water remains in the truck. Meanwhile, the customer tank cleaning continues with the water wash phase until the cleaning is complete.

Water drain At the end of the cleaning procedure, water is drained from the MoClean® truck to sewer through a drain valve on the bottom of the truck tank.
