| Article in Storage Terminals about revising tank cleaning traditions |

The article published in Storage Terminals September 2009, written by Oreco’s Sales Director Carlos Legorreta, deals with the health, safety and environmental factors of tank cleaning methods and offers a better solution to managing these issues.
The article should be a wake up call for tank maintenance managers still employing manual tank cleaning methods, urging them to not just take into account the direct costs of tank cleaning, “lowest price”, but also the hidden costs, i.e. risk exposure, environmental impact etc.
The article also talks about HSE standards and “operational excellence” as being just another buzzword without any substance to it or willingness to live by them as there is no consequence when breaching these policies. The article also advocates for a more stringent HSE legislation to ensure that tank cleaning operations will be performed in a safer manner in the future. |

Finally Mr. Legorreta offers advice as to best practise in tank cleaning taking into account HSE and what standards and requirements he believes a fully automated tank cleaning system should meet.
