PSA Technology

All Oreco PSA nitrogen and oxygen generators are based on the Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology, which we have chosen over other technologies due to its advantages in terms of reliability, system lifetime, purity, and cost-effectiveness.

The Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) process is the heart of the system as this is where the nitrogen is separated from conventional air and concentrated. The PSA method makes use of parallel separation units (vessels) filled with granular Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS) in the form of pellets. The pellets retain oxygen and allow nitrogen to pass. When due to saturation no more oxygen can be retained in the pellets, the process switches (swings) nto the second vessel and releases the pressure in the first line, thereby allowing the oxygen to escape. The cycle is constantly repeated during operation.

Why PSA?

  • Greater reliability
  • Higher purity
  • Higher capacity
  • Low maintenance costs
  • Fast Return of Investment (ROI)
  • In principle, generators based on the PSA and membrane technologies share the same objective: to generate high-purity nitrogen gas. But when you decide which technology to choose, you need to consider a number of issues.
